Past-Life Regression Therapy

I was browsing through Amazon bookstore earlier this evening when I came across an interesting book cover with the title "Same Soul, Many Bodies" by Brian Weiss M.D..

The synopsis talks about Past-Life Regression Therapy. Interesting enough, I thought! My spiritual journey actually started from a general aura reading at Khoracle by Andrew Khor and Selvi, which included my past-life reading. That was the turning point of my life. I've gained to know deeper about myself and some phenomenal laws of the universe. Naturally, this triggers my enthusiasm to find out more on past-life, past-life regression therapy and past-life reading.

So, how does Past-Life Regression Therapy Works?

According to Wikipedia, Past life regression is a psychological or spiritual phenomenon associated with the New Age movement and a belief in reincarnation. It can be conducted through hypnosis, guided or facilitated meditations, or other trance inducing activities. It takes a variety of forms though is always the process of a person being regressed to learn about their past lives, particularly traumas and karmic events associated with issues and patterns in one's current life.

According to Carol Bowman, MS who has been specializing in past life regression therapy with adults and teens for more than eighteen years, past life memories are the autobiography of your eternal soul—personal stories that explain who you are now and why you’re here on Earth. Past life regression is a therapeutic technique for accessing and re-experiencing your past lives directly. A branch of hypnotherapy, past life regression therapy has grown over the last 50 years to be an important addition to the healing arts.

Over the years, skeptics have challenged this method of therapy: (1) that the supposed past-life memories are actually "false memories", experiences in this life, pure products of the imagination, intentional or unintentional suggestions from the hypnotist, or even confabulations; (2) even if past-life memories can be recalled, it can be a form of negative healing or devastation as 'bad' memories can increase a person's suffering, as well as destroy loving relationships with family members; (3) it can't be scientifically proven that our unconscious mind can store our past-life memories; (4) when past-life is tied to reincarnation, some religions have denounced this belief and method of therapy.

The practice, however, has gained extreme credibility over the last decade or so because of the credentials of some of its leading advocates, e.g., Brian L. Weiss, M.D., who is a graduate of Columbia University and Yale Medical School and Chairman Emeritus of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami. Hypnosis as self-help has even expanded to include past-life therapy in recent years. They are many people who have provided incredible testimonials into this therapy with astonishing results. Some recorded experiences by these people have made it hard even for the hardest of skeptics to disprove.

"The process requires guiding you to a relaxed comfortable place within yourself, and then moving you deeper into the subconscious mind where you are fully aware and in control of your session, to recall or relive a past life.

You state your intent of the past life that you wish to recall, and in doing so your subconscious will present it to you. You will need to put aside the judgments, doubts, and criticism of the ego/mind to allow the process to happen. It takes willingness on your part, being open to explore other realms and levels of consciousness.

A past life regression also involves a process of reprogramming the subconscious mind and recreating the past life when necessary from a negative to a positive outcome. This new positive energy will then be brought forward, into this life, changing your negative patterns. You may notice the change almost immediately in your life. It may show up in the way you connect with those in your life that you have a past life connection with, your mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being may be different. Old fears or health issues may clear up that were related to that past life." -

I have made it a point to explore personally past-life regression therapy in the near future as I believe it will have a more therapeutic effect on me than just a mere past-life reading. Nevertheless, with an open mind and my openness to deep search onto my soul, even a past-life reading by Andrew and Selvi have made me understand and align with life purpose. I just want to take it a step further.
