U Heart and High Heart Chakras and Love

Exclusive: An original article by Katharina Bless for Spiritual Village.

The word "Chakra" is an Indian word from the ancient language of Sanskrit and can be roughly translated as "Wheel".

There are seven major chakras that are quite well known, each connected to a function that has been well-documented over time. However, the chakra system is a bit more complex than most of us realize; actually, between some of the seven chakras, there is another one. According to the tones of our musical scale, between the 7 tones there are some half tones and similar, there are twelve chakras within our physical body and even some more in the subtle bodies above the visible. All chakras are connected with a physical gland in our body. You can imagine them like the little transformers between e.g. a laptop computer and the socket that transforms the 220V into 75V so the notebook computer doesn’t burn.

Our chakra system is not complete with the quite well known seven chakras, we call those the 7 major chakras and they are connected with the main functions of our physical and subtle bodies.

We can compare the 7 major chakras with the tones of our musical scale and the lesser known "in between" chakras with the half tone notes between the usual notes in our music scale.

The tone steps look like this:

C – C#
D – D#
E
F – F#
G – G#
A – A#
B
C which starts a new octave which would relate to the chakras of the subtle, invisible body.

All together we find 5 steps in between the notes the way they are defined. It’s the same with the 5 chakras in between the major 7 chakras and they function like a bridge to the next level of understanding and life expansion. If you locate the chakras in the body, you will find them each one hand wide in between the major chakras. Between the solar Plexus (E) and the Heart (F) there is only one hand wide space, indicating that there is no other chakra in between. But if you check the space between the first (C) and the second (D) chakra, you see that they are located 2 hand wide apart! This relates to the musical scale where between the C and the D there is a half tone!

Ancient teaching knows about the sacred sound and the meaning of the tones and their influence on the chakras. Nada Yoga, which means “union through sound” can reveal the secret of our energy system and activate the chakras e.g. harmonize, balance and heal the body!

As mentioned above, the 12 chakras in the body are not all we the life energy transmitters we have; there is another “octave”, the chakras in our subtle bodies connecting us even to higher levels of existence and to the consciousness of our Divine or Higher Self. Without the chakras or these subtle energy transmitters of cosmic life energy we would not be able to live on this planet.

We can compare the chakras beyond the physical body with the outer planets in Astrology. The seven personal planets from the Sun to Saturn have been the only ones known to most astrologers for thousands of years. Within the last couple centuries more planets have been discovered that rule the "transpersonal" domains in our lives, the things that we are not able to influence ourselves and that we often call "destiny". It was then, that people were not aware of the cosmic “rules” and therefore often felt as victims.

Understanding the transpersonal step into the higher octave in Astrology as well as in the chakra system, we finally are able to move beyond our ego based and limited life structure and believe systems to reconnect with the true being beyond fear and human limitation that we truly are.

The lower three chakras, base or root, sacral and solar plexus, are in charge of our physical survival. The Heart Chakra and the High Heart Chakra are the gates to higher consciousness. Most people have only the chakras below the heart activated and therefore their whole life-experience is based in the consciousness of duality, occupied with physical survival, success and ego presentation. Within the struggle of the ego, most of the energy is wasted in fear not to be good enough.

The Heart chakra is a major gateway. If we let go of our fear and get out of the mind, we step into a higher experience of love which brings us into the state of consciousness beyond fear and therefore to a life in abundance, joy and satisfaction. The High Heart chakra is taking us even a step further: into unconditional love, beyond personal preferences.

Activating the High Heart Chakra

Now we want to have a look at the High Heart and how it relates to the Heart Chakra. The Heart Chakra is our expression of love. This love includes every thing that we can see, feel and understand. Many of us have experienced an open Heart Chakra when we fell in love. This is a great opportunity to open ourselves to receiving and giving love. This experience of love is personal, we can understand it; it’s still "touchable"! You love someone that you can see, feel and understand to a certain degree.

This is usually as far as most people allow the experience to go. The Heart Chakra opens for as long as we are in love, which often leads to the decision of a couple to get married. After a while, when the relationship becomes “daily life” and routine, what happens to the sweet love they once had? The Heart Chakra closes again and the mind takes over. The consciousness level of the mind belongs to the Solar Plexus which is located below the Heart chakra and love of the heart. Living “in the heart” is being in the NOW; the mind is comparing, judging and categorizing. Most people start again to worry about so many things like the job, children, money etc. e.g. they live within the energy of the Solar Plexus chakra again, from the ego consciousness. The ego can only exist there!

Falling in love is actually our biggest chance to move on to a higher consciousness and a great gift, for it can also open the High Heart (which is connected with the Thymus gland). The High Heart is the gateway to peace, wisdom and finally to enlightenment, the complete and total acceptance of all that is, and leads to the understanding of the Divine Order. To be able to keep the Heart Chakra open, we must allow ourselves to move beyond personal love into the quality of unconditional love, a kind of love that isn't understood by the mind anymore and goes far beyond personal boundaries.

We can only move on if we are willing to learn, understand and go beyond the usual limitations of the ego. Ignorance can't lead to an understanding of a higher order of peace and wisdom. It is so true what the Dalai Lama said at a symposium in Davos many years ago: "It would be very easy to have peace on this planet. There is only one little thing to do: change yourselves instead of trying to change others or the world."

But how would you go about activating the High Heart Chakra and keeping it open? In ancient times, they knew how to activate the chakras with sound, subtle frequencies such as flower or gemstone elixirs, crystals, but most of that knowledge got lost in the dark ages of the last millennia’s. Now the time has come where we are rediscovering many of the methods and ancient wisdom. Sound is one of the most powerful tools for activating the chakras. Monks of all traditions chant, and healing with sound has a long tradition with all the mantras and different instruments. Even classical Church music can activate the Chakras! I play the singing crystal bowls, and the chakras align amazingly fast with the sound. (F# is the tone for the High Heart.)

The same applies to subtle essences as catalysts to open and balance the chakras. For the best result, however, we also have to be willing to put effort into letting go of old habits and ways of thinking -- probably the most difficult thing for most of us to do. Holly is the flower essence that will help to open both the Heart and High Heart Chakras and keep them open.

Holly -- A Powerful Catalyst for the Heart and High Heart Chakras

Editors' Note: The following material about Holly is excerpted, with Katharina's permission, from her book, Flower Healing Power -- The Bach Flower Therapy from a Spiritual Point of View.
The Holly flower helps us return to a state of Love, to the feeling of connectedness with the Divine Self at the core of our being. It guides us to the bliss of true Love. Holly represents the center, or heart, of the 38 Bach Flower Remedies. It is the key to the heart and the Heart Chakra, and health in our physical, emotional and mental bodies. Holly energy leads us to true happiness. As the name Holly implies, this flower relates to being Holy or Wholly Divine.

Blocked Holly types have closed heart chakras, and the older they become, the more problems will appear because of this blockage. Keywords for unresolved Holly symptoms are: heartlessness, rigidity, hatred, jealousy, envy, anger, aggression, and violence.

Redeemed Holly personalities have a calming and reassuring aura felt by everyone they encounter. Small children and animals, for instance, instinctively trust these personalities. There is a pure light in their eyes that places them above the norm. Healthy Holly types are open to the world and their fellow human beings. They have the ability to form relationships that are not only expressed in the physical act of love, but go far beyond ordinary love. True Love is impossible to express in words. It makes us sing with joy, or even weep in gratitude; it thrusts us into a completely different level of being-ness, into an ocean of wellness, joy, and peace.
