Thoughts and emotions driven by outrage and dissatisfaction usually wind up as complaints. The toxic nature of such thoughts steadily build a life of unconsciously repeated complaints.
This way of living is dark and unfriendly. It casts a constant shadow on health, relationships, conversations and desires.
People struggle with complaints because their grievances live just below the surface of their conscious thoughts. These subconscious grievances often lead to a repetitive style of complaining that is boring and self-righteous.
On the other hand, if one can translate their complaints into requests, they frequently discover that the irritants that led to the complaints turn out to be blessings in disguise. Such blessings are followed by a deeper sense of self-examination that many times leads to forgiveness and clarity.
As we say in our teaching, “When your mind is open to infinite possibilities, creation and life become one!”
Will Bowen wrote this great book, “A Complaint Free World,” in which he challenges his readers to see whether they can go 21 days without complaining.
To help anyone willing to try, he created a purple rubber wristband with the instructions to switch the band to your other wrist when you hear yourself or another complaining.
To amplify this idea, our center is giving free purple wristbands to anyone willing to change their thinking for three weeks.
The more you think about the thoughts that create your experience, the more likely you will think different thoughts. This is Conscious Competency.
Thoughts that come from a conscious desire to live peacefully create an entirely different world — a world in which children are safe and the gift of life is cherished, not ignored.
